great day today at the nisei week parade! taiko with kogenkai was amazingly deliciously fun and such a good workout - and now back to work lol

dreaming big

Watching Oscar Pistorious race was pretty awesome.  I know some people say he has an unfair advantage and even though he didn't qualify for the 400m finals, it's pretty inspiring to see someone live out their dreams.  Definitely cooler than anything I've done haha.

moving on up

pretty legit day at work i gotta say.  finally got assigned a real project and goal to work towards -- and its a pretty critical workflow to our company's business.  pretty legit.  also it was really cool because im working hand in hand in another developer and we're working closing with a product manager and the head of product.  also complicating the project is the scale of the workflow -- we're going to be dealing with lots of difference pieces of technology, and everything is pretty time-critical.  the end-goal we're developing towards right now is actually just the beginning, as there probably will be feature upgrades and revisions, so this whole thing seems pretty ambitious

as for whether i'm ready to tackle this challenge, i'm not quite sure.  although i do know that today i was really excited to start delving into it and brainstorming possible implementations -- which is cool, because i've never dealt with something on this scale nor had any impact on any production system this large.

i guess thats why i chose this job -- i gotta say im probably gonna have to haul ass just to learn all the pieces and then put everything together so it works.  its a good challenge though, one that i embrace.

plus i got my first paycheck today.  woot woot!

this shit is back!  i think this stems from george telling me about his blog, or how our old failed sportsblog always somehow manages to appear in our lunch-time conversations.

busy busy day.. i think i need more weekend days like this.  played ball with some oldie pals, we got lunch, then went home and hung out with my parents and sister for a bit.  afterwards went to irvine to see the girl, and then back to LA.

the best part about my apartment right now is actually simultaneously the worst part -- i don't have a desk so i've been living on my bed.  i eat on it, sleep on it, and lounge on it with my laptop because i have nowhere to sit..

i think i'm developing that sunday night depression where the dread of going to work fills your mind and you anxiously sit there watching television trying not to think about it.  at least the olympics are here for two weeks?
